What's Your Personal Brand?

According to Wikipedia, the word branding began simply as a way to tell one person's cattle from another by means of a hot iron stamp. Walking around with a stamp on your forward probably won’t help you win new clients today, but developing your reputation and personal brand will help generate business.

When you think of successful brands, you are recalling more than just a logo or color, you are identifying a personality associated with the brand. For example, when I see the Nike swish, I think of winning and imagine myself running the Boston Marathon. What do people think about when they hear or see your name?

See how Apple’s branding strategy can help you develop and enhance your personal brand. In his blog posting, 7 Personal Branding Tips from Apple, Rahul Ayre outlines how individuals can adapt Apple’s branding strategy. It is straightforward and easy to follow:

  • Be Likeable
